Weekly rewind: LGF debate, Greenwood honored, Supreme Court hearing

It’s been a busy week for South Carolina’s cities and towns.

The Senate kept things interesting with a long debate about the priority of keeping the state’s obligations regarding the Local Government Fund. Read this week’s From the Dome to Your Home to get the full story.

The City of Greenwood was honored with the highest arts award in the state, the Elizabeth O’Neal Verner Award, for its commitment to the arts. Check out all the social media activity surrounding the honor with photos of the mayor and other Greenwood officials at the State House ceremony and awards gala in Columbia. Congratulations!

Meanwhile, in Bluffton, town council will host a high school mock council meeting next week to teach young people about the ins and outs of running a government.

In Columbia, the Supreme Court heard an appeal of the 2012 Lambries case that deals with making changing to council agendas. A ruling is expected soon.
